In memory of Leo Aguilar, Jr.

Leonardo "Leo" Aguilar, Jr. was born on December 29, 1952 to Leonardo and Lydia Gomez Aguilar, the fourth of five sons. Leo was actively involved in numerous organizations throughout his high school years (1967-1970); serving as Spanish Club President and representing the Future Homemakers of America as their Sweetheart. As a civic-minded individual, Leo was also involved in his community, and as a member of the St. Cecilia Catholic Church, he served as President of the Catholic Youth Organization.

In 1970, Leo was a senior and starting varsity fullback for the Mighty Falcons. In late September of that same year, Leo suffered a severe neck injury during football practice which hospitalized him. On October 10, 1970, at the age of seventeen, Leo lost his life as a result of doing what he loved best...playing football for the Los Fresnos Fighting Falcons! Leo's football jersey, Number "44", was retired and in the fall of 1988 the school Board of Trustees of the Los Fresnos CISD voted to rename Falcon Field to "Leo Aguilar Memorial Stadium". Since 1971, in honor of Leo's leadership and commitment to his community, the Leo Aguilar Memorial Scholarship Fund has been awarding scholarships to students of Los Fresnos High School to help further their education. Please join us in this very worthy cause.

The Leo Aguilar Foundation has been awarding scholarships to students since 1971. Our mission is to help the community of Los Fresnos, TX by helping high school graduates further their education.
